Twisted Tech

Each month the challenge entries will be posted on Mostlydead.com’s social media pages, along with the Artists’ names and social media info. The winners will be decided via drawing, and poll each month and posted on our website.

 

For this month’s challenge, the “winner” of the drawing receives a $100 gift card and if there are 10 or more entries into the contest, we will also give out 2nd and 3rd place prizes as well. In addition, we are holding a poll, We may also have some extra fun goodies to give away to contestants in addition to the regular prizes.(TBD for each contest), so if you have friends that you think would enjoy this contest, please tag them in our social media announcements about it, share the posts or send them a link to this page (https://www.mostlydead.com/pages/monthly-challenge ).


Happy August, 2026! What a year it has been so far! This year we have been vaulted forward in many ways and through many different portals. Whether we like it or not, the future is here to stay, and we might as well have some fun with it! So...for this challenge, we invite you to step out of the flesh and into the future! This month, we are trading standard horror for sleek, high-tech terror inspired by cyberpunk futures, synthetic bodies, and the blurred line between human and machine.

For this challenge, we want you to build your character out of metal, circuits, and wires. Whether you are designing a high-end cyborg agent, a rogue android hacking its own neural net, or whatever gets your circuits flowing, it is fair game.

We want to see sleek lines, metallic palettes, and however you envision the future of technology come alive in your character.

As always, our community is a supportive, judgment-free zone for artists of all levels to practice their craft. Everyone has a chance to win.

Don't forget that you're required to include a brief artist story or explanation with your entry—we love hearing about the "why" and "how" behind your transformation. This month, tell us what your character represents in the future (or the present) of technology, and why you chose this,what your inspo was, or what your view is.

  • Prosthetics are not required, but are allowed. 
  • You are NOT required to make a full body costume, but including as much of your character's look as you can, or want to, will increase your chances of winning the poll

How it works:

  • Create an SFX look inspired by the "Twisted Tech" theme.
  • Follow us on Instagram @mostlydeaddotcom. and/or Facebook @mostlydead.com
  • Snap a clear photo or photos. NO more than 3, please (before/during shots are optional but we love to see them!).
  • Post on your own page, tag us, and use #mdmc26august
  • Email your photo to social@mostlydead.com with your name,  social media handle, and a brief description of your work, and how it relates to the prompt. Type (or copy/paste) in the email “I agree to the terms”. (See terms below)
  • Submit entries by midnight on the last day of the month. (Or at least before the sun comes up the next day)
  •  Winner of drawing will receive a $100 Gift certificate for Mostlydead.com, chosen via live drawing on Instagram
  • Popular vote will be chosen via Poll, and announced same day as drawing. Look out for poll/voting announcements on social media, so you can send your followers over. Winner of popular vote will receive a mystery prize,including at least one prosthetic from our store, announced day of.
  • Only one entry per contestant.
  •  If 10 or more qualified entries are received 2nd and 3rd place prizes will also be awarded. Any additional prizes TBD.

Winners will be chosen via drawing on Instagram Live (need not be present to win). as well as posted publicly on our social media pages

 

NOTE: Some of you have been submitting the names and social media ID’s of your models and photographers. It’s great that you are crediting everyone involved, and we encourage you to do so on your social media pages, when you post the photos to social media. We always post the social media ID’s of the MUA so people can visit their page and see other credits there, but since this is a makeup contest for makeup artists, we will only be announcing and tagging the names of the makeup artists. There should only be one MUA working on each piece, so there will be one name mentioned for each entry. Your models and photographers absolutely deserve credit for their work, but this is up to you to put on your page. Our announcements will only mention the makeup artist.

TERMS:Contestants and all involved in the finished photos including but not limited to the makeup artist, model and photographer agree to grant Mostlydead.com, a Halloween Direct LLC company, its affiliates and assigns the right to use submitted media as deemed fit. This includes distribution digitally, printed media, video and any other media not listed. Contestants warrant that all media submitted is original. Contestants shall assume all liability in regards to and claims of privacy, copyright or intellectual property infringement.
